Why the Kova Sealer?

Most kitchens quietly throw food away: half a cut avocado, leftovers pushed to the back of the fridge, ingredients that turn before you get to them. Air is a big part of why. The Kova Sealer removes air from a reusable Kova bag so what you've stored stays in better shape for longer. It's cordless, USB-C rechargeable, and small enough to keep on the counter, so sealing what's left becomes a habit instead of a chore.

Vacuum sealing is one part of good food storage. It doesn't replace refrigeration or freezing, so keep following standard food-safety guidance.

What the Research Says

We built Kova around a simple idea with real backing: less air, better-kept food. Here's what trusted sources say, including the limits.

What vacuum sealing does

Less oxygen around your food

Per the USDA, vacuum sealing removes air from around food. With less oxygen present, produce is less likely to get freezer burn, and in that setting shelf life can increase and quality can improve.

What it doesn't do

It's one step, not a substitute

The University of Maine Extension is clear that vacuum sealing isn't a true preservation method. It doesn't make food shelf-stable and doesn't kill pathogens already in the food, so sealed food still belongs in the refrigerator or freezer.

This is general research on vacuum sealing, not testing of the Kova Sealer. We share it so you know what to expect: less air, better-kept food, and the same safe-storage habits you already use.
